We are a volunteer-led, not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving Phoenix's historic places citywide. Our goal is to demonstrate, through education and advocacy, the value of preserving the past and the benefits to be derived from an appreciation of our shared heritage.
To that end, we will strive to change common misperceptions about historic preservation. We want to show that preservation does not diminish the value of a neighborhood; it enhances it. It does not hinder growth, but spurs the formation of a more diverse economy and, through adaptive reuse, creates an inherently sustainable form of development. Preservation, by recognizing the shared past of natives and newcomers alike, fosters a stronger sense of community and place that cannot be duplicated by any other means.
Through the formation and growth of Preserve Phoenix, we hope to change the conversation about preservation in our state's capital city and the sixth largest municipality in the U.S. To do so, we need to assemble a grassroots network of committed individuals and partner organizations who will help us advocate for the protection of our historic places. By doing so, we can shape the development of our city so that those who grow up here remain and those who move here never want to leave.
Join us in helping to preserve Phoenix.
